Sharon was born in Hazlehurst, Mississippi and raised in Champaign, Illinois. Having lived in the Midwest her entire life, she decided to move to Charleston, South Carolina. She received an Associate’s of Science in Paralegal Studies and spent the last nine years as a Legal Assistant for the County’s Public Defender, where she made it her mission to change the way people initially felt about State attorneys. She was determined to put an end to the negative connotations associated with Public Defenders and be a beacon of light to others.
Ultimately, Sharon decided that it was time to change career paths, slightly, and start a new adventure at the Center for Heirs’ Property Preservation. She joined the Center team in May 2017, bringing with her a real passion for helping the community and a desire to bring her compassion and love for others to her work.
Sharon has two children, Mariah Courtney and Matthew Christian as well as an aquatic turtle, Polly. She has a passion for writing and is currently working on a novel. She also enjoys exploring the city of Charleston during her free time.
