Key Accomplishments
Since its inception as a nonprofit organization in January 2005, the Center has provided legal services to more than 648 applicants and conducted 113 legal seminars and presentations at which over 3,885 persons were in attendance. The Center produced an award winning video for persons who cannot read our printed brochure and 1700 persons have benefited from educational seminars, brochures and the video. During its first five years of operation, the Center, in conjunction with volunteer students from Charleston School of Law and Trident Technical College, successfully resolved 25 heirs' property cases resulting in 45 clear titles in such a short span of time. To our knowledge, no other nonprofit in South Carolina has accomplished this feat since "clearing title" is a very time consuming process.
