Outreach Activities

HP/SF Education Seminars provide information on the rights, responsibilities and risks of owning heirs’ property (HP) and how to protect it, and what the Center’s forestry program (SF) can do to help you increase the income and value of your wooded land through managing your forestland. One attorney and forester from the Center conduct the Education Seminars.)

HP Clinics is an HP Education Seminar followed by scheduled appointments for anyone wanting one, free hour of “Advice and Counsel” (A&C) with one of the Center’s attorneys to discuss your particular heirs’ property situation. The A&C appointments are scheduled, in advance, – if you wish to have one – when you call to reserve your seat at the HP Clinic.

Presentations help raise general awareness about the issue of heirs’ property and its resolution, and the value of forestland management and forestry services provided by the Center community-wide. Various Center staff conduct presentations.

FREE Wills Clinics provide free, simple Wills to those whose primary asset is property and whose entire estate is valued at less than $500,000 to help prevent the growth of heirs’ property.
